College Baseball:
Mt. SAC found itself in a fight or flight mode on Thursday.
Just two days prior, Compton College defeated arguably the South Coast Conference’s best pitcher, the Mounties’ Michael Flores, 2-0, in the first of a three-game set.
Mt. SAC put up its dukes on Thursday and pounded out a 10-5 victory, and out-hit the Tartars, 14-7.
Adrian Lopez got the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits over five innings.
Lopez walked one and struck out three Mounties’ batters.
Gibby Morales had a monster game.
Morales went 5-for-5 with two doubles, scored twice and drove in four.
Alex Reynoso doubled twice and scored a pair of runs.
CJ Ontiveros singled, scored two runs and had one RBI.
Joey Rossetti went 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI.
Travis Hobbensiefken walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Bradyn France had a two-run single for the Mounties.
Joey Peralta went six innings and allowed just an unearned run on four hits to earn the win.
Peralta didn’t issue a walk and fanned four.
Tervell Johnson singled and had an RBI ground out for Compton.
Robert Bueno singled twice and scored.
Up next: The Mounties and Tartars decide their series today (Saturday) at noon.
