Girls Basketball:
Reagan and Riley sounds like a radio show.
But in Thursday’s first round of the CIF-SS Division 4AA playoffs, the Rio Hondo Prep lady hoopsters put on a show of their own.
Tara Riley had a game-high 22 points and Reagan Johnson scored 20 in RHP’s 66-43 victory over visiting Whittier Christian.
The Kares had a 19-point lead at the break, and outscored WCHS, 24-11, in the third, to extend the lead even further.
Riley had half of her 22 in the first quarter.
And Johnson had 16 points in the third period, including three-3’s.
Zoe Sanborn (21 points) accounted for nearly half of Whittier Christian’s 43 points.
Up next: The Kares face Buena Park on Saturday.
The Coyotes (21-6) cruised to a 77-21 victory over Elsinore in their first-round contest.
