Boys Soccer:
Thanks to Maranatha soccer for sending in this report from the Ontario Christian Tournament:
Game 1 of the opening round today was against Arrowhead Christian High School.
Maranatha won 1-0.
The only goal came late in the 2nd half by George Peterson off an assist by Aren Tatevossian.
Goalkeeper Lorenzo Rodriguez kept a clean sheet.
Game 2 of day 1 was against Colony High School.
Colony led at halftime 1-0, but Maranatha came out in the second half with an early equalizer by George Peterson, assisted by Jacob Brantingham.
Colony responded with a second goal, and the goal scorer for Colony was sent off with a red card for taunting the Maranatha Goalkeeker (Lorenzo Rodriguez) immediately after the goal.
Sensing the momentum shift, Maranatha capitalized off a foul in the box, and George Peterson scored from the spot, earning a brace in the match.
Maranatha drew level, but were not done scoring.
With five minutes left, Luca Youssefian put the Minutemen on top for good with a calm finish in the box.
At the closing whistle, the score was 3-2 Maranatha.
Maranatha is back in action tomorrow playing in the semi-final game against Palmdale Aerospace Academy.
