Baseball:
Rancho Cucamonga opened Baseline League play 1-5.
And they trailed 2-0 at Los Osos in the top of the sixth inning.
The Cougars, though, rallied for four sixth-inning runs and they held on for a 4-3 victory.
Collin Wong had a key two-run double in the sixth.
Jordan Mejico went six innings and got the loss after surrendering four runs (two earned) on seven hits.
Mejico didn’t allow a walk and struck out 10 Cougars.
Ryan Peralta went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI single.
Rowan Suchanek doubled in a run.
Grant Thomas singled, had a pair of doubles and scored.
Beau Briggs reached base on an error and scored.
Richie Duran pinch-ran for Wong in the sixth and scored.
Joey Lopez went four innings for RCHS, and he allowed two runs on seven hits and one hit batter.
Lopez issued a pair of walks and registered four strikeouts.
Justin Stansbury got the win after going three innings and allowing just an unearned run on a walk and one hit batter.
Stansbury struck out five.
Brody Gomez doubled and hit a solo home run.
Presten Young was hit by pitch, walked and hit a solo home run.
Dominic Rodriguez walked and singled.
Aaron Ziello doubled, while Moses Lanza and Taylor Chairez had one single apiece.
Jacob Pimentel walked and scored.
