Baseball:
After a 5-4 Hacienda League victory over their visitors from Colony on Monday, no one wearing a South Hills uniform seemed too happy.
In fact, the boys in green did some postgame sprints to give them time to think about how they had just played against the league’s cellar dweller from Ontario.
On Tuesday, however, the multi-time defending champs looked a lot more like themselves in a 17-0 victory at Colony in six innings.
The Huskies out-hit the Titans, 15-3, including a 3-1 advantage in extra-base hits.
SHHS is now 7-1 in Hacienda League play.
Christian Santoyo went three scoreless innings and allowed two hits to earn the win.
Santoyo walked three and struck out three CHS batters.
Fabian Marez, Aiden Morales and Hudson Hempel provided one scoreless inning apiece, and they combined to strike out three Titans’ batters.
Aidan Castro walked and tripled.
Brody Litwin walked and singled.
Anthony Moreno singled to account for the rest of the Colony offense.
AJ Rangel was saddled with the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits and a pair of hit batters over three innings.
Rangel issued two walks and registered four strikeouts.
Diego Villarreal had a big day from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs.
Ayden Vieth drew a pair of walks, was hit by pitch and scored three times.
Noah Sibrian went 3-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBIs.
Victor Merlos drew a pair of walks, was hit by pitch, scored and finished with two RBIs.
Carson Baker went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Wesley Manning singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Gabriel Guerrero went 2-for-3, was hit by pitch, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Paxton Czubek was hit by pitch and scored.
Richie Soto doubled and drew a bases loaded walk.
Liam Martinez had an RBI single and scored.
Jayden Carter singled in a run.
Derrick Wright drew a pair of walks and scored.
Aiden Gomez singled and Sebastian Morinaga scored in Tuesday’s win.
Up next: The Huskies will host the Titans on Thursday at 3:30 in the hopes of securing the three-game sweep.
