Baseball:
West Covina got out to a quick lead, and Cristian Lazo did the rest.
Lazo went the distance in the Bulldogs’ 6-1 victory at Bishop Amat.
He surrendered one run on five hits.
Lazo issued three walks and registered four strikeouts.
Fifty-nine of his 99 pitches were strikes.
Joaquin Ortiz singled and then tripled in a run in the bottom of the sixth to get the Lancers on the board.
Ryan Salcedo drew a pair of walks and scored.
Roman Spencer, Omar Arretche and Antonio Becerra had one hit apiece.
Nathan Ortiz got the loss after allowing two runs on four hits over two innings.
Ortiz walked one and fanned one WCHS batter.
Griffey Moncada walked, doubled in two runs in the fifth and scored.
Gabriel Diaz walked and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Levi Ruiz was hit by pitch, singled and scored.
Joaquin Diaz and Ethan Okazaki walked and scored one run apiece.
Andrew Maldonado went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.
Landon Hoffman walked, singled and scored.
Rieleigh Rangel had an RBI bunt single.
Joseph Castillo singled in the win.
