College Baseball:
Chaffey College entered Thursday’s IEAC showdown with visiting Barstow on a four-game losing streak.
The Panthers had just suffered a three-game sweep at the hands of Cerro Coso.
And on Tuesday, Barstow secured a 12-2 victory.
Fast forward two days, and the Panthers secured an 11-4 IEAC victory over the Vikings.
Chaffey trailed 1-0 and 4-3.
But they’d close out the game with eight unanswered runs.
Brackin Lail got the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits over four innings.
Lail issued three walks and registered three strikeouts.
Grant Price drew a pair of walks, scored three times, had a two-run double and drove in another on a sac fly.
Andrew Cuellar went 2-for-5 with a double, three runs and one RBI.
Dylan Buzard walked, singled twice and drove in one run.
Robert Morales singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Hayden Hull walked, singled in a run and drove in another on a sac fly.
David Trujillo walked, singled and scored.
Adrian Morales singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Mason Danison had an RBI single in the seventh inning.
Michael Saltzer drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
David Trujillo was credited with the win after going three innings and allowing four runs on five hits.
Trujillo issued a pair of walks and registered three strikeouts.
Tyler Cazares (4) and Alejandro Preciado (2) combined to provide six scoreless innings in relief.
Josh Vaughn singled, tripled and drove in two runs.
Daichi Suzuki singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Scott Hirschi walked, singled and scored.
Ezra Amora singled in a run and scored.
Trinton Taylor walked and had an RBI ground out.
Tristan Wells went 1-for-4.
Up next: The Panthers will travel out to Barstow on Saturday in the hopes of securing its second IEAC series.
