Boys Hoops:

San Dimas began the new season with a number of inexperienced players.

One had never played an organized game, and several others enter the 2025-26 campaign without a scintilla of varsity experience.

However, the Saints still have Andrew Diep and Angelo Fares.

And the SDHS guards did their part in a 50-47 victory over Don Lugo.

San Dimas took a 14-point lead into the fourth period, and DLHS went on a 17-6 run.

Fares finished with a game-high 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Diep hit a pair of 3’s himself, and the senior finished with 16.

Diep played all 32 minutes in the win.

Daniel Barrales scored nine points in the win.

Jacob Yoguez (9), Troy Anderson (8) and Josh Smith (7) combined to score 24 points for Don Lugo.

Quotable:

San Dimas coach, Jeremy Ketterling: “I thought we played pretty well. We were up the whole game. At the end of the game, we got a little tired. But it’s been a tough offseason to say the least. We have a lot of guys getting their first varsity minutes. I knew there would be a lot of nervous energy. I think we’re only going to get better.”

San Dimas point guard, Andrew Diep: “It was definitely interesting. We have one guy who was playing his first basketball game and others who were playing their first varsity game. Our ability to win in spite of missing a lot of open shots showed our connected we are. It was a rocky first game, but I think it’s only going to get better.”
