Flag Football:
First Round Playoff Schedule:
And the CIF-SS playoff formula continued its greatest hits in flag football.
Instead of employing at least a modicum of human oversight and rewarding programs for winning league in the form of a first-round home game, the flag football postseason brackets were filled by analytics.
San Dimas and Bonita went a combined 41-9 overall and 13-1 in league.
The Saints and Bearcats secured Hacienda and Palomares League titles, respectively.
And yet, in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs, SDHS heads to Downey (21-4) on Tuesday, and BHS visits Beckman (18-6).
With a first-round win, SDHS would get top-seeded Linfield Christian (21-5).
The Lions are ranked No. 99 nationally and 25th in California.
On the flip side, if the Bearcats were to head home from Irvine with their first postseason victory in program history, BHS would get the Mater Dei-Westlake winner.
The Monarchs were awarded a playoff berth in spite of being 12-11 overall and 0-6 in league games.
The Warriors are 13-6 overall, and 7-3 in league.
In Division 1 play, Etiwanda finished the regular season on a six-game win streak.
The Eagles went 22-3 overall and 10-0 in Baseline League action.
What was their reward?
EHS will take a 141-mile bus ride to Goleta to battle Dos Pueblos on Wednesday.
The Chargers are 22-2, they went 13-1 in Channel League games, and they’re ranked 17th in the nation.
Upland, South Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Covina, West Covina, Claremont, Northview and Azusa have first-round home games on Tuesday.
Good luck to every 210 Prep Sports program.
