Flag Football:
San Dimas’ Faith Kearns is about as versatile an athlete as one could hope to be.
And that includes her male counterparts.
In fact, she’s a four-sport stud for the Saints.
In the fall, the SDHS senior competes at wide receiver and linebacker.
Kearns also had a CIF-SS Girls Water Polo Player of the Year award on her resume, and in the same winter sports season, she was named second-team all-league for Gary Jackson and the Saints girls’ basketball program.
In the spring, Kearns was the league MVP in swimming.
She won four events.
And Kearns was a CIF-SS finalist in the breaststroke.
If that weren’t enough, Faith is a champion in the classroom with a 4.3 GPA.
But let’s talk about this current fall season.
Kearns and her buddies are 19-5 overall.
And they sit atop the Hacienda League standings with a perfect 5-0 record.
However, that undefeated league run almost got derailed.
The Saints trailed 12-7 in the waning moments on Tuesday’s showdown with South Hills.
On the last play of the game, Kearns caught a TD pass from Audrey Schlim to tie the game at 12-12.
SDHS would convert on the extra-point attempt to secure a 13-12 victory.

For the night, Kearns caught 13 passes for 103 yards.
And both San Dimas scores came on TD strikes from Schlim to Kearns.
Schlim completed 14-of-33 for 92 yards.
Schlim tossed two TD passes and one interception.
Lei’ani Jaime was 8-for-11 for 63 yards.
Schlim (9-for-74) and Jaime (6-for-49) combined to gain 123 yards on 15 carries.
Kearns led SDHS with four tackles, while Juleah Velasco and Jaime totaled three tackles or flag pulls apiece.
For the season, Kearns has 104 catches for 1,432 yards.
And that includes 36 TD receptions.
The 36 TDs is believed to be No. 1 in CIF-SS and fourth in the nation.
She’s carried the ball 14 times for 103 yards and three scores.
Kearns also makes a massive contribution on the defensive side of the ball.
Her 122 flag pulls lead San Dimas.
Far more impressive, Kearns has picked 17 passes.
And seven of those 17 have been returned for pick-sixes.
That is tops in the country.
She also has five sacks and 10 pass deflections.
