Baseball:
Trailing 2-1, La Salle scored single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to defeat their visitors from Pasadena High School, 3-2, on Tuesday.
The Lancers had a 7-3 edge in base hits.
Frane Flores went 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits to earn the win.
Flores issued three walks and struck out seven PHS batters.
Andrew Luna came in to get the final out, and he did so via strikeout.
Ian Van Zyl singled and scored.
Riley Andrade went 1-for-3, including an RBI single in the top of the fourth to catch La Salle at 1-1.
Two batters later, Aaron Martinez drew a bases loaded walk.
Jayden Mendoza walked and singled.
Fabio Castillo walked and scored.
Reese Kim went the distance for the Bulldogs, allowing three runs on seven hits.
Kim issued a pair of walks and fanned a pair of Lancers’ batters.
Andrew Klein went 2-for-3, and his RBI triple in the fifth tied the game at 2-2.
Drew Ward singled and scored.
Frane Flores went 2-for-3, including an RBI double and a run.
James Hall finished 2-for-3, scored, and his two-out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth turned out to be the game winning run.
Up next: The Lancers host Temple City on Thursday at 3:30.
PHS travels to Hoover next Tuesday at 3:45.
