Andrew Smith Wins 100th Game at Chaffey After Panthers Hammer Barstow, 20-1, in Saturday’s IEAC Contest

Chaffey College picked up a twofer on Saturday.

First, the Panthers secured a three-game IEAC sweep over their visitors from Barstow.

Chaffey hammered the Vikings, 20-1, and they had a 27-3 advantage in base hits.

The Panthers outscored Barstow by a combined margin of 48-5.

They hold a 2.5-game lead over Desert atop the IEAC standings.

The second notable feat on Saturday was the boys in Rancho Cucamonga securing Andrew Smith’s 100th win while leading the Panthers’ baseball program.

Weston Morgan allowed three runs on four hits and two walks in 1/3 of an inning to get stuck with the loss.

Chaffey’s offense collected five more extra-base knocks (8) than Barstow had hits.

Twelve Panthers had at least one hit on Saturday.

Two days after hitting for the cycle, Ryder Young was a triple away from repeating his historic performance.

Young went 4-for-6 with four runs and three RBIs.

Young had an RBI single, an RBI double and a solo HR.

Dominick Torrez singled twice, scored three times and hit a three-run HR.

Kaden Durazo went 4-for-6 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Austin Easter had a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI.

Cameron Casado went 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored.

Jordan Daniels singled twice and scored.

Eric Valdivia went 1-for-4 with a walk, double, run and one RBI.

Jaden St. Cyr drew three walks, singled and scored three runs.

Ryan Melton went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.

Joe Gilkeson singled and scored.

Jayden Sanchez went 3-for-3 with one run and an RBI.

AJ Hurtado drove in a run on a sac fly.

Jackson Price went six innings, allowing one run on three hits to earn the win.

Price didn’t issue a walk and registered six strikeouts.

Connor Luetto, Joe O’Regan and Evan Ellis provided one scoreless and hitless inning apiece.

Luetto (2), O’Regan (3), Ellis (2) combined to strike out seven Barstow batters.

Andres Gonzalez singled and scored.

Jaxsen Francisco drove in a run on a ground out.

Michael Carger and Cameron Buck had one single apiece to account for the rest of the Vikings’ offense.

Up next: Chaffey will look to extend their current six-game win streak on Thursday, as they host Mt. San Jacinto at 2.
