Baseball:
Ayala’s dominating start to Palomares League play continues.
The Bulldogs dropped a 13-0 beatdown on their hosts from Walnut.
AHS is now 5-0 in league games, and they’ve defeated Glendora and Walnut by a combined margin of 56-5.
Caleb Trugman, Hayden Hovey, Gerson Hoebing and Aiden Cosico combined on a one-hit shutout.
Trugman went four innings, and he surrendered one hit.
Hovey, Hoebing and Cosico provided one scoreless and hitless inning apiece.
Both Hoebing and Cosico registered one strikeout each.
Jacob Rodriguez had the lone hit for WHS.
Izeyah Rojas got the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on four hits over 1 2/3 innings.
The Bulldogs touched up Dillan Lobo for five runs (four earned) on five hits and a walk in just 2/3 of an inning.
The Walnut pitchers can’t wait to get Saturday’s game over, so they don’t have to see Jonah Boyd’s face or bat again this season.
In game one, Boyd went 4-for-5 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs.
In the second contest, Boyd singled, doubled, tripled, scored twice and drove in four runs.
Jaden Valenzuela went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, three runs and one RBI.
Easton Sarmiento singled, scored, had a two-run double and finished with three RBIs.
Codey Brown singled, drove in a pair and scored.
Eric Hernandez singled, doubled and scored.
Aiden Granados doubled and scored.
Aidan Erlandsen went 1-for-2 with a walk, double, two runs and one RBI.
Trugman helped his own cause with an RBI double.
Thomas Estepa and Elijah Duarte walked and scored one run apiece.
Nate Jilek singled in the win.
Up next: The Bulldogs host the Mustangs this afternoon (Saturday) at noon.
