GHS Secures Three-Game Palomares League Sweep of DBHS After Saturday’s 3-2 Victory; Grable & Garza Shut Down Brahmas’ Bats

After a miserable first week in Palomares League play, Glendora bounced back and picked up a three-game sweep over Diamond Bar.

The Tartans defeated the Brahmas 13-0, 4-0 and 3-2 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

GHS led 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning, and DBHS scored once in the top of the seventh.

Tanner Grable earned the win after going 5 2/3 innings and allowing one run on three hits.

Grable walked one and struck out four.

Diamond Bar got one run on two walks off Brayden Johnson in 1/3 of an inning.

Santiago Garza got the final three outs to earn the save, including the strikeout of Isaac Insuasti looking to secure the sweep.

Eleven of Garza’s 15 pitches were strikes.

Dominic Tortorelli singled, tripled and scored.

Matias Gallardo and Nathan Nakamura had one single apiece to account for the rest of the Brahmas offense.

Marcos Davaloz walked and scored.

Carlos Cornejo had an RBI ground out in the top of the seventh to pull Diamond Bar to within 3-2 of the Tartans.

Ethan McNeil was charged with three runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings.

McNeil walked four and fanned a pair of GHS batters.

Tortorelli provided 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Riley Cooper led off the bottom of the second with a double.

With one out, John Seader singled to center.

After Cooper was tossed out trying to steal third, Garza drew a walk.

Kai Zeits’ RBI double plated Seader and Garza.

Aaron Jacobsen’s RBI single scored Zeits, which, five innings later, turned out to be the game-winning run.

Seader went 2-for-2 with a walk and one run.

Cooper singled and doubled.

Up next: The Tartans will host Claremont a week from this coming Tuesday (April 8) at 3:30.
