College Baseball:
Mt. SAC won its 20th consecutive game on Thursday.
The Mounties cruised to an 18-1 South Coast Conference victory at LA Harbor College.
But MSAC’s offense took a while to get going.
They led 3-1 in the top of the seventh inning against the SCC’s cellar dwellers before scoring six, five and four runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
They out-hit the Seahawks, 16-7, and the Mounties improved to 24-3.
Ronnie Ogusuku got the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits over six innings.
Ogusuku walked one and fanned a pair of Mounties.
KJ Romero was roughed up for nine runs on seven hits and two walks over one inning.
Nine of the 10 Mt. SAC batters had at least one hit, and the 10th (Terrell Jackson Jr. still contributed two runs and an RBI).
The state’s leading hitter, Landon White, went 4-for-6 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs.
Tyler Stull had a monster game with two singles, a double, two runs and five RBIs.
Bryan Bradshaw walked, singled twice and scored three times.
Ty Thomas walked, singled, doubled, drove in one and scored three runs.
Diego Ortiz walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Diego Villa had a two-run double in the ninth and scored once for the Mounties.
Jackson Giacone scored and had a two-run double.
Miguel Perez walked, singled and scored.
Cole Nachreiner walked, singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Hudson Castillo improved to 6-0 after going six innings and allowing one run on six hits.
Castillo didn’t issue a walk and fanned three LAHC batters.
Joey Peralta (2IP) and Dom Versluis (1) combined for three scoreless innings in relief, including a combined three strikeouts.
DJ Garcia had an RBI single in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 1-1.
Ryan Diggle singled, doubled and scored.
Andres Roman went 2-for-4.
Randy Martinez and Brandon Luna had one single apiece to account for the rest of the Seahawks offense.
Up next: The Mounties go for the three-game sweep at home on Saturday at noon.
