Baseball:
Claremont snapped Bonita’s eight-game Palomares League win streak that dates back to 2024 on Thursday.
The Wolfpack pounded out an 11-9 victory at BHS by outhitting the Bearcats, 15-12.
CHS led 2-0 after the top of the first inning and they scored seven times in the second.
Ryder Gibson was charged with nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits and a walk over one-plus inning.
All nine Claremont batters had at least one hit on Thursday.
Nico Vasquez went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs.
Thomas Plotkin singled twice, doubled, scored two runs and drove in a pair.
Wyatt Green went 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
Reed Miller doubled and scored.
Luke Porras went 3-for-5 with a run and one RBI.
Cory Smykla walked, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Ramzey Farah went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Aiden Leslie singled and scored.
Aaron Banfield walked, singled, scored and drove in one.
Banfield got the win in spite of surrendering eight runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings.
He walked one and fanned a trio of Bearcats.
Wyatt Green got the final six outs to earn the save, including four via strikeout.
Andrew Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a three-run HR, a triple, two runs, and he finished with three RBIs.
Judah Reeve walked, hit a solo HR and an RBI single.
Cody White singled twice and scored.
Austin Banuelos walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Dominic Garcia and LJ Vasquez singled and scored one run apiece.
Brady Horn singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Jarrett Kozma had a two-run single in the fifth to pull BHS to within 11-9 of Claremont.
Carlos Arredondo went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Up next: BHS travels to CHS on Saturday at noon.
