Baseball:
It took six tries.
But Etiwanda finally has win No. 1 of the 2025 baseball season.
The Eagles rode the arms of CJ Monzon and Dylan Villegas to a 7-0 victory over West Covina.
Monzon went five scoreless to earn the win and allowed just one hit and two walks.
Villegas got the final six outs, surrendering two hits, a pair of walks and struck out one WCHS batter.
Izaiah Hernandez doubled, while Marcus Mayweather and Gavin Betancourt had one single apiece.
Robert Melendez went all six for the Bulldogs
Melendez was charged with seven runs (six earned) on eight hits.
He issued four walks and struck out three EHS batters.
LJ Roellig went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, one run and two RBIs.
Roellig’s two-run double in the bottom of the third inning gave Etiwanda a 6-0 lead.
Frank Gonzales singled twice, scored and drove in one.
James Milam walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Justin Jackson had a two-run single and scored.
Jack Holguin singled in a run in the second inning.
Ryan Severns walked and scored.
