Wrestling:
In a few hours, three wrestlers from 210 Prep Sports programs will be vying for state championships.
One year after a loss in the state title bout, Glendora’s Samantha Sachs is back and more dominant than ever.
Sachs cruised to an 18-3 tech fall victory over Clayton Valley’s Savannah Talmadge in the 130-pound semifinal.
The top-seeded Sachs will face No. 2 Ruby Julien-Newsom in tonight’s final.
Northview’s Delarie Juarez stomped her way into the 145-pound title bout.
Juarez pinned Aila Duus of Freemont in just 1:03 in a semifinal showdown.
Juarez is to battle No. 2 Olivia Davis of Esperanza.
And then there’s the party crasher, Charlene Smith of San Dimas.
The unseeded SDHS heavyweight stunned the No. 2 seed on Friday with a third-period pin.
Fast forward to Saturday morning, and Smith edged Central’s Olivia Ruacho, 1-0, in their semifinal showdown.
Smith will close out Saturday night inside the Mechanics Bank Arena when she meets up with No. 4 Trinity Tipton of Camarillo.
