Baseball:
Marshall Fundamental is now 2-0 after Friday’s 6-1 victory over Verdugo Hills.
The Eagles got quite the effort from Nate Callaway.
On the mound, Callaway went four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits.
He walked one and struck out seven VHHS batters.
At the plate, Callaway had a solo HR and an RBI double.
Back to Marshall pitching.
Michael Gerst provided two scoreless innings, allowing two hits, no walks and he fanned a pair of Verdugo Hills batters.
Elijah Lane closed out the seventh and got two of his three outs via strikeout.
Isaiah Guevara singled twice and scored.
Anthony Velasquez singled and doubled in the loss.
Mike Medeiros got the loss after allowing five runs on four hits over 2 2/3 innings.
Medeiros issued four walks and struck out four Marshall batters.
Adan Castro walked, singled twice and scored.
Sandro DiClaudio singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Caleb Thatcher drew a pair of walks and scored one run.
Trevor Lain walked and singled.
Ryan Pandullo scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Chris Romero walked and scored.
Ben Muro went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
