Baseball:
Two days after a disappointing IEAC-opening loss to one-win Mt. San Jacinto, Chaffey College dropped a 12-0 ass kicking on the Eagles.
The Panthers had a 13-3 advantage in base hits, and they played a clean game defensively, while MSJC committed four errors.
Ian Hoffstetter went 6 2/3 scoreless innings, and he allowed two hits to earn the win.
Hoffstetter walked five and struck out 11.
Michael Moses (1 1/3 innings) and Evan Ellis (1) combined to get the final seven outs without any damage.
Juni Rodriguez, Steven Kirtides and Steven Felipe had one single apiece to account for the Eagles offense.
Matt Walling got roughed up for six runs (five earned) on five hits over two innings.
Wallin walked one and struck out one Chaffey batter.
Derek Almeda went 3-for-4 with a walk, double, three runs and an RBI.
Ryder Young walked, singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in three.
Jayden Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs and one RBI.
Cameron Casado drew a pair of walks, singled and drove in two runs.
Kaden Durazo singled and scored three times.
Dillon Smalls drove in three runs on a pair of fielder’s choices and a sac fly.
Lance Armijo singled and scored.
Eric Valdivia walked and singled.
Joe Gilkeson singled once in Thursday’s win.
