Baseball:
St. Francis sure saved its best for last on Wednesday.
Trailing Hart by a score of 2-0, the Golden Knights scored twice in the sixth inning and once more in the seventh to claim a 3-2 victory.
James Bacon went 3 1/3 scoreless innings for the Hawks, and he allowed just one hit.
Bacon didn’t issue a walk and struck out five.
The Golden Knights got to Mason Cummings for two runs on one hit and a pair of walks in 1 2/3 innings.
Josh Whitson got the loss after surrendering the third run of the game on one hit and a walk.
With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Dominik Hidalgo’s two-run single plated a pair of runners, and the game was tied at 2-2.
One inning later, Jayden Kim singled home pinch-runner Noah Aguilar-Tanphanich for what turned out to be the game-winning run.
Jackson Pratt walked, singled and scored.
Jordan Lewallen walked and scored.
Bobby Milton singled once in the win.
Aiden Mahoney went four innings, and he allowed two runs on two hits.
Mahoney walked three and struck out one Hart batter.
Lucas Becerra provided a scoreless fifth inning in relief.
And Jordan Lewallen went two scoreless innings to earn the win.
Lewallen allowed one hit, didn’t walk a batter, and he registered three strikeouts.
Anthony Cavarretta drew three walks and scored.
Hayden Rhodes had an RBI single.
Zach Rogozik walked and scored.
Ryder Frithsmith walked and singled in the loss.
Brady Werther drove in a run on a sac fly in the bottom of the fourth inning.
