Boys Basketball:
Maranatha earned its spot in Friday’s second round of the CIF-SS Division 3AA playoffs.
They did that by defeating their visitors from Alta Loma, 60-51, on Wednesday evening.
MHS used a 20-7 run in the second quarter to take a 30-21 lead into the break.
Harrison Harper scored a game-high 18 points for the Minutemen.
Chris Smith chipped in with 17 points.
Bryan Lopez-Wood had 10 points and Giacomo Manzella scored nine points in the win.
Ziyon Guerrero led ALHS with 13 points.
Markel Geary scored 10 points and Cayden Bluhm had nine in the loss.
Up next: The Minutemen host Beckman on Friday at 7.
The Patriots (14-14) cruised to a 69-37 victory over their visitors from Desert Christian Academy.
