Boys Basketball:
It’s been nothing short of an historic run for the Glendora boys’ basketball program.
After starting the 2024-25 season 2-3 at the Sunny Hills Tournament, Glendora answered with 23 consecutive wins to finish the regular season at 25-3.
To put that in its proper perspective, GHS hasn’t lost a game in 73 days.
That is a program best since 1992.
It also meant that GHS went undefeated in (Palomares) league play for the first time in north of two decades.
To earn both of those accolades, the Tartans needed and got a season-ending 62-55 victory at second-place Walnut.
They started the game on an 11-0 run and led for much of the contest.
WHS went on a 23-16 run in the second quarter to cut the GHS advantage to one point at the break.
But the Tartans closed out the win by outscoring the Mustangs, 29-23, in the second half.
Colton Gray scored a game-high 18 points to go with his eight rebounds and three assists.
Tanner Grable had a big night with 15 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of assists.
Max Hilgenfeldt chipped in with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Myles Wainwright led Walnut with 17 points.
Nathan Yen and Isaiah Leon provided 11 points apiece.
Kareem Abdul-Haqq chipped in with eight points in the loss.
Up next: Both programs will get their playoff opponent on Saturday at noon.
