Charter Oak avoided an upset and remained in the hunt for a Valle Vista League title at the same time.
The Chargers edged last-place Covina, 5-4, on Thursday.
With six games to play, COHS trails Wilson by one-half a game.
Charter Oak had a 2-1 lead at the half.
Avery Zernickow scored three goals.
Melody Orozco provided two goals and a pair of assists.
Zaylah Navarro, Kiana Iha and Isabella Carmona had one assist apiece.
Deandra Varela had six saves in goal.
Up next: The Chargers travel to West Covina on Tuesday, and they’ll host first-place Wilson on Thursday.
