Girls Basketball:
Two of the area’s most successful programs to start the 2024-25 season met up on Friday evening.
La Salle and Bonita entered the contest with a combined record of 28-5.
And with the game tied at the break (29-29), the Lancers claimed a 48-39 victory over the Bearcats after going on a 19-10 run in the second half.
Casey Higgins scored a game-high 19 points.
Aislin Tamez Torres added 14 points, and Riley Higgins chipped in with eight.
Lexi Mercado led Bonita with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
Brooke Van Duyne hit a pair of 3’s, and she finished with 10 points.
And Tressa Beatty provided eight points for the Bearcats.
Bonita had a 6-1 advantage in 3-pointers made.
Up next: BHS will be back in action today at 1:30 against Hillcrest (8-5) at RCHS.
The Lancers will host St. Mary’s Academy (10-5) on Tuesday at 7 in the Del Rey League opener.
