Boys Basketball:
A pair of southern section powers met up in Bellflower.
St. John Bosco secured its own tournament after Saturday’s 46-37 victory over Damien.
The Braves and Spartans were locked in a 26-26 tie at the break.
However, SJB outscored DHS, 20-11, in the second half.
Chris Komin hit a pair of 3’s and he finished with a game-high 15 points for the Braves.
Christian Collins added 12 points and Elzie Harrington finished with nine points.
Damien has played all week without their big man, Nate Garcia, and they were still able to give the 10th-ranked team in the state a run for their money.
Eli Garner led DHS with 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Jayden Avina chipped in with 11 points, and Lucas Arrieta had five.
Up next: The Spartans will host San Gabriel Academy on Wednesday at 6:30.
