Wrestling:
Bonita High School dropped a 64-18 beatdown on their hosts from Diamond Bar in the Palomares League opener for both programs.
BHS won 11 of their 14 matches.
Ten of the 11 wins came via pin.
The Bearcats trailed 18-9 after five matches.
But BHS would win the final nine matches of Wednesday’s dual, and all nine were pins.
Diamond Bar’s Eesa Hamza (106), David Miley (120) and Ethan Lee (132) secured six team points apiece after pinning their Bonita counterparts.
BHS got pins from Elias Echeveste (113), Jacob Fernandez (138), Dylan Garcia (144), Aidan Chaires (150), Tristan Fernandez (157), Thomas Jimenez (165), Logan Clogstan (175), Cole Parra (190), Matthew Mijares (215) and Vincent Lucero (285) all pinned their Brahmas’ opponents.
Parra had the quickest night.
He stuck 190-pound Ethan Gawn in just nine seconds.
Nico Vazquez earned an 11-5 victory over Diamond Bar’s Khea Do at 126 pounds.
