Football:

Julian Vigil wasn’t going to allow his high school career to end on Friday night.

The Saints senior and his boys hosted Aliso Niguel in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs.

And Calpreps, the site that CIF uses to make its first-round playoff pairings, actually projected the visiting Wolverines to leave San Dimas with a one-point win.

However, the Saints offense owned the clock and the game in a 43-21 victory.

Vigil scored three times in the win.

He also became the 12th leading rusher in school history.

Vigil finished with nearly 180 yards rushing.

He scored on runs of 2, 2 and 49 yards.

Liam Loyola had a pair of TD runs and Nathaniel Almaraz scored once.

Jacob Denes had a pair of 5-yard TD runs for Aliso Niguel.

SDHS scored on a two-point conversion early on.

And then Brady Arriaga converted each of his extra-points attempts.

Arriaga has yet to miss an XP all season.

Aliso Niguel scored on a short TD pass in the waning moments of the first half to pull to within 21-14.

SDHS, though, outscored the Wolverines, 22-7, in the second half.

Caleb Morquecho had a second-half interception for the San Dimas defense.

Up next: The Saints will host Dana Hills on Friday at 7.

The Dolphins (9-2) edged Barstow, 45-41, at DHHS.
