Football:
St. Francis sure picked a great time to have a season-high in points.
The Golden Knights cruised to a 50-22 victory at Calabasas in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs.
With the game tied at 15-15 in the second quarter, SFHS scored the next 35 points to pull away from the Coyotes.
Isaac Fajardo had TD runs of 62 and 12 yards.
Trailing 15-8, Luke Cullen picked off a Calabasas pass and returned it 25 yards for a pick-six.
After a 9-yard TD run by Deveon Blaylock, Tim Murphy gave St. Francis a 14-point lead, thanks to his 75-yard interception return for a score.
The Golden Knights took that 29-15 lead into the break and the result was never in doubt.
John Sanders would throw consecutive TD passes of 15 and 70 yards to Julian Navarro and Blaylock, respectively.
And Fajardo’s 12-yard TD run capped the SFHS offensive output.
Up next: The Golden Knights will host Muir on Friday at 7.
SFHS and MHS met up in week three, and the Mustangs secured a 28-18 victory.
On Friday, top-seeded Muir edged Schurr, 22-19, at MHS.
