Rio Hondo Prep dominated their visitors from Viewpoint in the Gold Coast League opener for both programs.
And that includes on the scoreboard and the stat sheet.
RHP cruised to a 54-19 victory over the Patriots.
It’s their 12th consecutive victory over Viewpoint.
The Kares had massive advantages in first downs (27-5), rushing yards (411 to minus-47) and total offense (546-101).
Viewpoint had a 189-38 edge in kickoff return yards, including a 94-yard kickoff return from Kenyon Ebole-Gordon.
Noah Penunuri led the Kares ground game with 105 yards on just five carries.
Penunuri had TD runs of 6 and 60 yards.
Nate Curtis carried the ball three times for 82 yards, and his 76-yard TD run in the first quarter gave RHP a 7-0 lead.
Caeden Holcomb had a team-high seven carries and totaled 63 rushing yards.
Braeden Yokoyama gained 25 yards on three carries.
Yokoyama had a 5-yard TD run and he picked a pass and brought it back 23 yards.
Nathaniel Shine totaled 23 rushing yards on four carries.
Yanick Diaz finished 5-of-6 for 99 yards.
Diaz had an 11-yard TD run in the first half.
Elias Har had a 66-yard reception for the Kares.
Calogero Chico caught three passes for 39 yards.
Adrian Mendoza led Rio Hondo Prep with six tackles and Rainn Pollock had five.
Up next: RHP will host Brentwood next Friday to decide the Gold Coast League championship.
The Eagles (6-2, 0-0) had a week-eight bye.
