Flag Football:

Western Christian secured a first Ambassador League championship in its inaugural season.

But it didn’t come easily or without drama.

The Lancers scored on their first two drives to take a 13-0 lead.

To their credit, Linfield Christian battled back and nearly knocked off WCHS.

Trailing 20-13, the Lions scored with 4:40 to play, but they weren’t able to convert on the extra-point attempt.

LCHS would get the ball back with 1:19 in the second half.

And any hopes they may have had in sharing a co-Ambassador League title with WCHS was dashed when Cass Serna intercepted a Linfield Christian Academy pass on a fourth-down play, and just 40 seconds showing on the scoreboard.

Maliyah Estrada completed 18 of 26 for 203 yards.

The Lancers’ freshman tossed three TD passes and one interception.

Estrada reached the insane 100-TD pass plateau.

Bailey Osborne led WCHS with nine receptions for 108 yards, and that included a 45-yard TD catch late in the second half.

Mikaela Burchell had 56 receiving yards on five catches and one score.

Grace Galdamez had a 19-yard receiving TD.

touchdown reception of 19 yards.

Josie Mendez had a sack for the Lancers defense.
