Flag Football:
To say Etiwanda had a solid inaugural (regular) season would be an understatement.
The Eagles won 11 of their first 12 games, and they finished with a 45-24 Baseline League victory over St. Lucy’s.
EHS placed second in the Baseline League at 8-2, and their only two setbacks were against unbeaten Upland (10-0).
Etiwanda’s sophomore quarterback, Shelby Hong, opened up the game with a 60-yard TD run, and she was off to the races from there.
Hong threw for north of 250 yards passing, and she surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark.
She scored seven total TDs, including one rushing.
Maria Wakumoto (2) and Aliana Rodriguez (1) combined for three TD receptions.
Sophomore Demi Bradley finished with 100 receiving yards and one score.
Senior Sammy Garcia totaled two TD catches and 90 receiving yards.
Even Etiwanda’s center, Sonia Ibarra caught a TD pass from Hong.
The defense also finished on a high note.
EHS picked a season-best four passes.
Sonia Rocha had half of the Eagles four interceptions while Karli Aguilar and Amayah Wash picked one pass apiece.,
Up next: The Eagles will get their first-round playoff opponent on Saturday morning at 9.
