Thanks to Maranatha for the following:

Maranatha completed their busiest week of the season – three matches in four days – the way they hoped to, by sweeping their matches before heading into their bye week, where they will have the opportunity to get some much-needed practice.

They have only had 8 practices so far this season.

The doubles lineup played with a high level of efficiency and execution today, led by #1 Mia Huang/Madison White and #2 Diana Sarksyan/Jennifer Chu, who each swept their opponents without surrendering a game, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.

With regular #3 doubles starter, Peony Liu, resting, freshman Dora Wang made her second start of the season in her stead, playing with Morgan Duran for the first time.

They quickly acclimated to one another, winning their first 2 sets, 6-2, 6-1.

Liu replaced Wang in the final set to team with Duran for a 6-0 win.

Singles swept their 1st round, with #1 Grace Yang, #2 Mia Su, and #3 Kathryn Khalil posting 7-5, 6-3, 6-0 wins.

The ensuing 2 rounds tilted the Falcons’ way, as they won 4 of the final 6 sets, with Su going 1-1 (6-2, 3-6) and Khalil going 0-2 (2-6, 2-6).

Yang lost her set, 6-3, before being subbed out for freshman, Juliana Zhang, who won her first high school match, 6-2.

With no matches next week, the 6-1 Lady Minutemen will host their first match of the season on Wednesday, October 2, before hosting league-favorite, Village Christian, to open the Olympic League season.
