Flag Football:

Glendora High School competed in its first girls flag football game in school history.

And what a start it was for Greg Bidoli’s program.

After taking a 20-0 lead into the half, the Tartans cruised to a 33-12 victory over Upland at Louie Pompei Memorial Park in Glendora.

Rylee Franks wasn’t just playing her first flag football game for GHS on Monday night.

It was also her first high school sporting event.

The GHS freshman quarterback completed 15 of her 20 pass attempts, and that included three TD’s and one interception.

Hailey Travisano rushed for 55 yards and caught three passes.

One of Travisano’s three catches went for a TD.

Milana Luera and Delilah Estevez had three receptions apiece.

Tatiana Espitia led the defense with 11 flag pulls.

Paola Casas had the duty of covering Upland’s most dangerous players and she batted down three passes and had five flag pulls.

Sofia Freking and Ryan Torres each picked off a pass in Monday’s win.

Up next: The Tartans travel to Covina District Field tonight (Tuesday) at 5 to battle Covina.

The Highlanders will be back in action next Monday at Chaffey at 4.

Quotable:

Glendora coach, Greg Bidoli: “The girls just truly did a very good job of not letting the nerves get to them and keeping their composure. We had a great crowd and a great atmosphere for a first-ever Glendora flag football game. The offense was led by freshman quarterback, Rylee Franks, who spread the ball around to seven different receivers. Hailey Travisano rushed for 55 yards, caught three passes and had a rushing TD. Milana Luera and Delilah Estevez each had three catches. On defense, Tatiana Espitia had 11 flag pulls. Paola Casas drew tag assignment of covering one of their best players one on one. She had five flag pulls, and she batted away three passes. It was a team win for sure. We need to see how we come out on back-to-back days, as we play Covina tomorrow.”

Box Score:
