Girls Tennis:
Competing in Division 1 in any CIF-SS sport is a challenge in and of itself.
There aren’t any weak opponents.
And such was the case for the Claremont tennis program.
The Palomares League champs fell, 11-7, in the first round of the D-1 playoffs.
Woodbridge went 6-3 in singles, and claimed five of their nine doubles matches.
Claremont’s No. 1 doubles team of Kaili Hernandez and Paige Ruffner went 2-1, including wins of 6-2 and 6-4.
Farah Ghafarshad, who plays No. 1 singles, also went 2-1.
Ghafarshad’s scores were 1-6, 6-3 and 6-4.
Up next: The Wolfpack qualifiers (from the Palomares League finals) will compete at the CIF-SS individuals.
