Coleman Mitchell Goes 7 2/3 & Allows Two Earned Runs in PCC’s 9-4 Victory Over Compton; Lancers One Game Back of First w/One to Play

Apr 28 2023 04:55:48

College Baseball:

As the 2023 regular season wraps up today, PCC could find itself anywhere between first and third place by day’s end.

The Lancers currently sit alone in second, and trail first-place El Camino by one game.

Meanwhile, ELAC and LBCC are just one-back of PCC in the conference’s No. 3 spot.

If PCC were to complete the three-game sweep of visiting Compton today, and if Mt. SAC beats El Camino, the Lancers would go as the SCC’s No. 1 seed, because they claimed their head-to-head series, two games to one.

But if LBCC defeats eighth-place Cerritos, and the Lancers fall to the Tartars, PCC would drop to third place, because of a Vikings 2-1 series win.

With that out of the way, Coleman Mitchell put PCC in a position to win a potential conference title after going 7 2/3 innings in Thursday’s 9-4 victory at Compton.

Mitchell allowed four runs, but only two were earned.

He surrendered eight hits, didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.

Nathan Mertens got the final four outs and struck out one Compton batter.

Crixtian Taveras singled and hit a two-run HR in the eighth inning.

Johnathon Enriquez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Rowan Dupras doubled and scored.

Tervell Johnson singled twice and scored.

Andy Perez singled and scored.

Sergio Medrano had an RBI single.

Adrian Lopez got the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits.

Lopez went seven, walked three and fanned one PCC batter.

Mitchell helped his own cause with two hits and an RBI.

Jakob Guardado walked, tripled and drove in a pair of runs.

Jake Trabbie walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Aryonis Harrison went 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs and an RBI.

Damien Ureta singled, doubled and scored.

Toshiki Kuriya walked, singled and drove in a pair.

Matt Rice singled, scored twice and had an RBI.

Tommy Castillo singled and doubled in Thursday’s win.
