College Baseball:
After being swept by Long Beach City and Rio Hondo College, and losing two of three against PCC, the Mt. SAC baseball program just secured its fourth consecutive South Coast Conference series win.
The Mounties edged ELAC, 6-4, on Saturday, and claimed the series, 2-1.
Sam Silversmith got the win, going five innings, and allowing two unearned runs on six hits.
Silversmith walked five and struck out three.
Hunter Holmes got the final three outs to earn the save.
Michael Easter singled and hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning.
Matt McIntire and Beno Olmeda walked, singled and scored one run each.
Nicholas Bobadilla singled and doubled.
Alex Mendez had an RBI single in the third inning.
Daniel Vierra singled and walked twice, including once with the bases loaded.
Ruben Hernandez walked twice and singled.
Francisco Dominguez was saddled with the loss.
Dominguez went six and surrendered five runs (four earned) on seven hits.
He walked three and struck out three Mounties.
CJ Ontiveros went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a pair of runs and three RBIs.
Blake Hagerty singled and drove in two.
Damien Delgadillo walked, singled twice, scored three runs and had one RBI.
Alex Reynozo walked twice and scored.
Joey Rossetti went 2-for-5.
Elijah Pelayo singled in Saturday’s win.
