Arcadia Edges Glendale, 2-1, in Friday’s Pacific League Showdown; Devon Eskridge’s Sac Fly in 8th is Game Winner

If Arcadia claims yet another Pacific League championship in a few weeks, they will have certainly been tested by Glendale.

On Tuesday, the Apaches edged the Nitros, 6-5, in Glendale.

And tonight, AHS got a walk-off sac fly from Devon Eskridge to escape with a 2-1 victory in eight innings.

Gabriel Lopez went 6 1/3 innings and allowed one run on six hits.

He walked two and struck out five.

Fernando Palencia was credited with the win after providing 1 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief.

He issued a pair of walks and fanned two Nitros’ batters.

Frankie Malagon walked twice, singled and scored.

Jason Martinez singled and had an RBI.

Erik Chavez walked and singled.

Sean Foreno and Neil Dewan had one hit apiece for Glendale.

Levi Valadez went five innings and allowed just one run on six hits.

Valadez walked three and fanned a pair of AHS batters.

Javier Solis was saddled with the loss.

Solis allowed one run on one hit, a walk, and a sac fly in 2/3 of an inning.

Jerry Carlos singled and scored the game winner in the eighth.

Eskridge singled, tripled, scored, and as mentioned, drove in the game-winning run.

Ben Cooper singled and doubled in Friday’s win.

Brayden Herrera and Avery Truesdale collected one hit each for the Apaches.

Palencia also contributed with a sac fly in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1.

Up next: Arcadia will host Walnut on Monday at 1.
