Boys Basketball:
Walnut remained in kick-ass mode on Wednesday night.
The Mustangs outscored visiting Silverado by 13 in the second half, and cruised to a 72-54 victory in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2A playoffs.
Walnut’s 27th win is a new school record for a season.
WHS also extended its current win streak to 11 games.
Malik Khouzam had another dominating night with 27 points and six steals.
Joby Barnes added 23 points and four assists.
Gavin Ibrahim chipped in with seven points, and Christian Aquino had six.
Up next: The Mustangs will face Palos Verdes on Friday.
The Sea Kings (18-10) picked up a 66-47 victory at Providence.
