Boys Athlete of the Week:
If you don’t go to Bonita High School or wrestle in the Palomares League, there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of Tristan Fernandez.
And that’s because Fernandez is a quiet and humble kid, who also happens to be an ass-kicker for Coach Rob Froh and the Bonita wrestling program.
On Saturday, Fernandez won the 145-pound division at the Palomares League finals by pinning Aaron Saenam of Alta Loma early in their title bout.
Fernandez was also named the lower-weight MVP and Glendora’s Marquize Brown (170) earned the upper-weight MVP.
In two years, Fernandez has a pair of Palomares League individual titles, and he’s never lost a Palomares League team dual match.
Fernandez and his boys led Bonita to a share of their first team league championship since the Reagan Administration.
