Male Athletes of the Week:
Adam Urena and Ike Udengwu III finished off their JC football careers on a high note.
And while Mt. SAC fell short on Saturday night in the first round of the playoffs, Udengwu was the game’s most dominant athlete.
Ike Udengwu III brought his Mounties back from a 32-17 second-half deficit to take a 34-32 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Fullerton would get a 2-yard last-second TD run to end Mt. SAC’s season, 45-41, at OCC.
But Udengwu completed 24-of-38 for 407 yards, including four TD passes, and no turnovers.
Udengwu hooked up with their big-play stud, Shemar Savage, on TD passes of 78, 52 and 22 yards.
He would also connect with Xavier Rawls on a 25-yard TD pass.
If that weren’t enough, Udengwu had a team-high 89 yards rushing, and a 21-yard TD run.
Adam Urena has rewritten many of the Citrus College passing records.
Urena set the single-season TD mark this year with 33, and he has a program-best 57 career TD passes.
On Saturday, Urena led the Owls to a 31-20 victory in the SCFA American Division Championship Bowl Game at Mt. San Jacinto.
And that earned the program their first 11-0 season in school history.
Urena went 17-of-26 for 269 yards and three TD’s, and the Citrus sophomore also had a 1-yard TD run.
Urena connected with Robert Vega (65 yards), Alex Vazquez (20) and Arden Napier (7) on scoring passes.
