College Baseball:
This one is going to sting.
PCC took a 6-2 lead into the eighth inning against Long Beach City College in the first of three SCC games this week with the Vikings.
But LBCC got five runs in the eighth, two in the ninth and two more in the top of the 10th to stun PCC, 11-9, on Tuesday.
The Lancers actually had to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth to send it to a 10th frame.
Jakob Guardado went the first six innings, and allowed just two runs on seven hits.
He walked one and struck out four.
LBCC got five runs off Nicolas Day and two runs apiece against Damien Ureta and Casey Popham.
Popham was stuck with the loss after allowing two tenth-inning run on two hits.
He walked two and struck out three Vikings’ batters.
JP Santoyo had an RBI single in the top of the eighth to even the game at 6-6.
And in the ninth, Santoyo’s two-run single gave the Vikings a 9-6 lead.
Raul Garcia walked, singled twice, tripled, scored two runs and his two-run, 10th-inning single turned out to be the difference.
Kamau Neighbors walked, singled, doubled and scored three runs.
Moises Guzman walked, singled and hit a solo home run.
Malik Clayton walked, singled, doubled, scored and had two RBIs.
Alex Seguine went 2-for-5, with a walk and three runs.
Matthew Pinal singled, scored and had one RBI.
Emmanuel Morales had an RBI single in the win.
Pinal went six innings for LBCC, allowing five runs on 10 hits.
He walked two and struck out five.
Reed Passmore was credited with the win after going 2 1/3 innings and allowing the three runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Passmore walked one and fanned five PCC batters.
Raider Tello continues to be the hottest hitter in the SCC.
Tello went 4-for-5, with two singles, a two-run HR in the bottom of the second, and an RBI double in the seventh, to give PCC 2-0 and 3-2 leads.
In his last three games alone, Tello is 11-for-14 with two doubles, two home runs and nine RBIs.
Max Blessinger walked, scored a pair of runs, singled twice, including one in the bottom of the ninth that scored two runs and tied the game at 9-9.
Kenny Kim singled twice, scored and had an RBI.
Jack Trabbie had three singles and scored.
Collin Johnson had a pinch-hit RBI double in the ninth inning.
Andrew Scannell singled and scored, and Aryonis Harrison walked and had an RBI on a fielder’s choice.
Matt Delgado went 2-for-4 in the loss.
