Softball:
Glendora had a pretty solid Friday.
First, the Tartans defeated Alta Loma, 1-0.
And secondly, they got a little help from Bonita.
The Bearcats defeated Ayala, 10-0, and that buoyed GHS into a first-place tie atop the Palomares League standings with the Bulldogs.
Ayala and GHS both have five league games remaining on their schedule.
The hero of Friday’s victory was GHS sophomore Bridget Nemeth, who shut Alta Loma out on three hits.
Nemeth walked two and struck out three ALHS batters.
Ashley Hibbard doubled and scored.
Mackenna Coleman singled twice and drove in the only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning.
Ashley Waite went 3-for-3 in Friday’s win.
Alicia Garcia and Haley Ganino had one hit apiece for the Tartans.
Glendora and Ayala will meet up for the last time on May 19th.
Up next: GHS will travel to Colony on Wednesday.
First pitch is set for 3:30.
