College Football:
Needless to say, it’s been a rough two weeks at St. Francis with the passing of head football coach Jim Bonds.
He was just 51.
But forward steps are being made by all, and that’s exactly what Bonds would have demanded of them.
Two days ago, the La Canada school announced the program would stay in-house and selected Ted Corcoran, the Golden Knights assistant AD/strength and conditioning coach to take over the head coaching duties.
Most know that Bonds played football (quarterback) at UCLA, so who better to lift the spirits of the grieving Golden Knights faithful than a former St. Francis star having a big day for the Bruins.
Greg Dulcich, who had one of the most dominating senior years in school history, caught four passes for a team-high 126 yards.
The UCLA tight end caught a 52-yard TD pass from quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson with 4:44 to go in the first half.
Before his score, the Bruins trailed their hosts from Colorado, 35-7.
Dulcich sparked a UCLA run, and they got as close as 42-35, but the Buffaloes would hold on for a 48-42 victory.
It was a career mark for the UCLA sophomore, and it was the first time he’s led the Bruins’ in receiving yards.
