After a 10-0 regular season, Bonita didn’t seem to get rewarded for their hard work and success.

The Bearcats were forced to make the 70-mile journey to Temecula for a first-round showdown with Greak Oak (9-1) in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.

The game featured eight lead changes and ended on what the BHS side saw as a blatant pass interference non call in the end zone.

However, when it was all said and done, GOHS held on for a 34-30 victory.

Joseph Lara finished his remarkable career at Bonita in style.

Lara accounted for 302 yards and three TDs.

He carried the ball 27 times for 228 yards, including TD runs of 17 and 50 yards.

Lara finished with five receptions for 74 yards.

Isaiah Guerrero tossed a 36-yard TD pass to Lara with 3:45 remaining in the second quarter to give BHS a 24-21 lead.

Early in the second quarter, Guerrero hooked up with Matt Milazzo on a 14-yard TD connection, and the Bearcats led 14-7.

Nathan Fidone kicked a 20-yard field goal just before the half to give BHS a 17-14 advantage.

The Bearcats finished 2026 at 10-1, and they outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 394-145.
