Alta Loma saw one of its best seasons in the 21st century come to an end much earlier than they were expecting.

The Lions finished the regular season 9-1.

After no league titles between 2000-2024, ALHS secured a second consecutive Valle Vista League championship in 2026.

And this year, Alta Loma didn’t have to share the VVL crown with anyone.

They earned even earned a home CIF-SS Division 4 playoff game against an ML King team that was 2-8 after having to surrender a number of wins earlier in the season.

Things got off to a great start for the Lions.

Just 1:55 into the game, Owen Lyons picked a pass and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown.

Approximately 10 minutes later, the Wolves’ Drayton Fitzpatrick reeled in a 29-yard TD pass from Tristan Lepale.

MLK went for a 2-point run and got it to take an 8-7 lead they would not relinquish.

Leading by one point, and with 2:34 remaining in the contest, Joey Silva picked Maximus Fierro and returned it for a 20-yard pick-six.

Fierro completed 9-of-22 for just 70 yards.

The talented sophomore didn’t toss a TD pass and was picked twice.

Fierro led the ALHS ground game with 52 yards on 15 carries.

The Wolves held Lions’ stud Izaih Brown to 17 yards on 10 carries.

Bryant Avila returned after being sidelined since week-one at St. Francis and reeled in five passes for 41 yards.

Lyons had three receptions for 33 yards.

As disappointing as they must feel, ALHS will return most of its skilled players in 2027.
