Football:

A very successful 2026 season came to an end for San Dimas on Friday night.

The Saints fell, 40-35, to their visitors from Paramount in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs.

SDHS went 8-3 in 25-year-old Dylan O’Leary’s maiden voyage at his alma mater.

San Dimas’ three losses came at the hands of Bonita, Alta Loma and Paramount, who are a combined 29-4.

To put it simply, the Saints could not stop the Pirates offense.

Paramount had advantages in first downs (28-17), rushing (217-170), passing (286-152) and total offense (503-322).

However, each time it looked PHS was going to pull away, the Saints answered.

In fact, in one of their rare defensive stops with 3:46 to play, SDHS needed just over 30 yards to take their first lead of the second half.

But the Pirates defense knocked down a Kris Saris pass away from a receiver on fourth down to take over.

And PHS ran out the clock.

Paramount made of the most ballsy calls this writer has ever seen in a playoff game.

With a 30-24 lead and facing 4th-and-11 from their own 31-yard line, the Pirates gambled and it paid off big time.

Jeremiah Boynette caught an Ocho Quinonez pass and took it 69 yards for a TD into the north end zone.

A pair of seniors played a starring role on Friday night and all season.

Jacob Gallegos rushed for a game-high 130 yards on 17 carries, and that included TD runs of 1 and 61 yards.

Gallegos also totaled three receptions for 79 yards, and took a screen pass 53 yards for a touchdown.

Michael Baeza had another monster game at defensive end and tight end.

Baeza caught four passes for 71 yards.

That included a 3-yard TD catch in the second quarter, and a 39-yard scoring strike from Kris Saris in the fourth.

Baeza finished with team highs in receptions (34), receiving yards (620) and TD catches (10).

Saris completed 8-of-16 for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

Adam Damato (4-for-26), Liam Loyola (3-for-13) and Baeza (4-for-9) combined to gain 48 yards on 11 carries.

Quinonez went 20-of-27 for 286 yards and a pair of TD passes.

Along with the fourth-down 69 yarder to Boyette, Quinonez and Boyette hooked up on a 40-yard score to give Paramount its first lead of the game at 20-14 in the third quarter.

Derrick Jackson led the PHS ground game with 114 yards on 18 carries.

Jackson had a 17-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Boyette carried the ball seven times for 43 yards, including TD runs of 2 and 8 yards.

Boyette caught eight passes for 175 yards and the two TDs.
