Volleyball:
When Glendora looked up at the scoreboard on Tuesday evening, the Lady Tartans trailed 2-1 and they knew they were just one set away from seeing their 2026 season come to an end.
Apparently, GHS wasn’t ready for that, and they stormed back for a five-set victory over their visitors from Kennedy in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs.
Glendora won by scores of 25-22, 20-25, 21-25, 25-13 and 15-10.
The Tartans had four players that had double digit kills.
Valentina Zurla had a match-high 18 kills to go with two aces and six digs.
Sam Oliver finished with 14 kills and four digs.
Laila Beamer provided 13 kills and 21 digs.
Alex Oliver chipped in with 10 kills and four digs.
Brooklyn Salazar had two kills, 33 assists, 10 digs and an ace.

Kaleia Zeits contributed 39 digs and six assists.
Up next: The Tartans will host Royal on Thursday.
The Highlanders of Simi Valley (17-7) swept Xavier Prep by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-20.
Quotable:
GHS coach, Erin Noriega: “We had to really fight tonight, but we stepped up big time against a really good team. We matured throughout the match and played fearlessly. I will continue to preach growth and peaking at the right time. Tonight was some of the best volleyball we have played and I look forward to what’s to come.”
