Tennis:
After recently playing three matches in three days, this week’s slate of playing three matches in four days didn’t seem quite so daunting.
Playing for the second day in a row, the Lady Minutemen used their experience two weeks ago to make sure they were still fresh and sharp today, looking for ways to continue improving.
Maranatha defeated the Pioneers in workmanlike fashion, playing efficiently and steadily throughout the day.
There were some great points and some solid rallies, but the Lady Minutemen outlasted their opponents in most of them.
That mindset was particularly evident amongst the singles lineup, who only lost two games on the day.
That result was highlighted by Hannah Su’s rare 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 “triple bagel.” Grace Yang and Sarah Fong came close, with each only losing one game.
In doubles, Jennifer Chu/Peony Liu achieved an actual 6-0, 6-0 “double bagel” before receiving a forfeit in their final set.
Franziska Ries/Natalia Kalajian won their two sets, 6-1, 6-0, while also receiving a forfeit.
Catherine Hayes/Chloe Soh split the two sets they played, 1-6, 6-2, while the duo of Chloe Soh/Hannalee Trout lost 2-6.
Up next: The Lady Minutemen are now 5-2 overall and have a day off before their first-ever match with nearby John Muir High School on Thursday.
