Football:
Last season (September 20th), the Citrus College football program defeated Mt. SAC (48-43) for the first time in at least 30 years.
Since then, the Owls have gone 3-8, and their defense has surrendered 465 points.
On Saturday, the Mounties had a chance at payback, and oh man, they made the most of it.
MSAC dropped a 64-13 ass kicking on the Owls.
They led 50-7 at the half in the National-Northern Conference opener for both programs, and Citrus fell to 0-4.
Through the first four games, the Owls have been outscored 211-100, and last week’s 68-28 home loss, according to the school, was the most points allowed in program history.
The Mounties had statistical advantages in first downs (27-15), passing (379-138), rushing (219-62) and total offense (598-200).
The one bright spot seemed to be that Citrus played a more disciplined game, being flagged seven times for 56 yards, as compared to 11-for-126 for Mt. SAC.
JP Mialovski has played lights out football the last two weeks in wins at El Camino and against their visitors from Glendora.
Mialovski completed 17-of-22 for 341 yards.
That included four TDs and no picks.
Mialovski opened the scoring with a 67-yard scoring strike to Aidan Leyland just 3:30 into Saturday’s game.
He tossed TD passes of 4 and 20 yards to Jordyn Harris, and a 19-yard TD to Noah Ellison.
Jamel Sly (6-for-65), Jusyis Solis (8-for-64) and Malachi Jones (4-for-44) combined to gain 173 yards on 18 carries.
Sly (33 yards), Solis (3) and Jones (17) had one TD run apiece.
Elijah Tehe only gained 11 yards on four carries, but that included a pair of 2-yard TD runs.
Leyland had a game-high 139 yards receiving on three catches and the long TD.
Harris, the Mounties game-changer, caught six passes for 93 yards and the two scores.
Solis had three receptions for 75 yards.
Marcellus Maxwell totaled 46 receiving yards on three catches.
After one week off to nurse an injury, Nathan Maggiore (1) tied with Tavanni Tafisi (2) for a team-high five tackles apiece and three sacks.
Kanye Childress, Solomon Tripline and Koa Rapolla totaled four tackles apiece in the win.
Tamir Williams and Andre Parker picked off one pass apiece for the MSAC defense.
Citrus’ Connor Underhill completed 12-of-19 for 138 yards.
He didn’t throw a touchdown and was picked once.
Noah Sandoval went 2-of-6 for zero yards and an interception.
Sandoval led the Owls ground game with 76 yards on five carries, including a 69-yard TD run with 40 seconds to play in the third quarter.
Isaiah McKee gained 22 yards on 10 carries.
McKee got Citrus on the board with an 8-yard TD run at 2:52 of the first quarter to pull to within 21-7 of the Mounties.
Cameron Bateman had a 38-yard reception, while Dash Smith caught two passes for 33 yards.
Isaac Pichardo led both teams with 11 tackles.
Arthur Gonzalez and Bear Baker finished with five tackles apiece.
Former Glendora players Aidan Yamazaki (4) and Aspen Suprenant (3) combined for seven tackles.
Up next: The Mounties close out the first half of the season next Saturday at Moorpark.
The Owls host Santa Ana in what they hope will be season victory No. 1.
